We are a firm of Chartered Accountants based in the heart of Galway city. Established originally in 1950, the firm has evolved over the years to a practice serving a diverse client range in Galway and the western region. Our team combines over 175 years of accounting and tax knowledge and experience.

Our approach is to work closely with our clients so to tailor our services to the specific accounting and tax needs for each individual client. We are familiar with a broad range of accounting and payroll packages and have successfully implemented improvements in client accounting systems to provide periodic and useful management accounts. Many of these accounting systems enable our clients to produce strong management accounts in house.

The firm’s two Directors are Chartered Accountants, father and son, Colm and Richard Grogan. Richard is also a Registered Tax Advisor with the Institute of Taxation of Ireland. The team of eight experienced and qualified accountants and support staff within the practice have been part of the firms structure for many years and have intricate knowledge of the specific clients requirements they work with on a year on year basis.

Services

Our core work is to provide accounting and tax related services to our clients. The accounting services range between preparation of accounts for sole trades, professional practices, charities and companies to full audit service to corporate entities and groups of companies along with consolidated accounts.

Personal and corporate tax planning and compliance matters are an integral part we focus on with each client and we have good dealings with the Revenue Commissioners when representing on behalf of our clients. We use our extensive tax library and attend regular tax seminars to ensure our knowledge in this area is kept up to date and relevant.

Other tax matters we attend to include capital gains tax on sale of assets and properties, inheritance and gift tax, VAT compliance, stamp duty and the various tax reliefs for business assets for both capital gains tax and gift/inheritance tax.

Our audit and assurance work is mainly with companies in the west of Ireland and along with the regular auditing and assurance we carry out grant certification works on company expenditure for validation with third party granters. Amongst other state bodies we have provided certification assurance for Enterprise Ireland, FAS, Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Leargas, Repak and Udaras na Gaeltachta. We have dealt with numerous state agencies and bodies across the years in representations on behalf of our clients.

We work with leading professional practices and partnerships including solicitors practices and auctioneering firms and other regulated entities and we provide the necessary annual reports to their various monitoring bodies and regulators. We aim to establish good financial accountability in our clients accounting and book-keeping processes. We advise and have implemented new accounting systems and processes for clients to ensure day to day transparency of financial transactions to the owners and managers of the businesses we serve.

We also carry out company secretarial filing with the Companies Registration Office for annual companies returns, changes in directorships, shareholders and allotments of new shares. Our knowledge and experience in accounting has enabled us to carry out company insolvency assignments to successful conclusions.
